Our Incident Response talks at DEFCON

·2 mins·

If you are going to attend the DEFCON 34 (Aug. 6-9, Las Vegas), we invite you to the talks with our Incident Response experts:

Friday, August 7, 14:00: “Inside the Guts of Ransomware” by Ashley Muñoz (LVCC, Exhibit Hall West 3)

Ashley will explain how malware analysts identify different encryption algorithms in ransomware samples using reverse engineering and debugging techniques, with ransomware demos from recent incidents.

Saturday, August 8, 11:00 am: “Meet XEntry Team: A powerful threat actor abusing Bitlocker for ransomware” by Eduardo Chavarro Ovalle (La Villa Hacker, in Spanish)

This talk will be about the ransomware attack by a previously unknown threat actor identified as “XEntry Team”. During this session we will present the investigation results, the techniques implemented by the threat actor, the scope of the attack from beginning to the end, and the attempts to recover affected systems.

Saturday, August 8, 2:00 pm: “Execution of modern techniques to start/improve your career in Incident Response” by Ashley Muñoz (La Villa Hacker, in Spanish)

At this workshop, we will practice some modern techniques used by Global Incident Response teams to acquire, process, and analyze digital evidence during cyberattacks, and respond with accurate conclusions in a very short time. This workshop is for those who don’t know how to start a career in DFIR or who want to refine their investigative skills.

We’ll be glad to see you at the event!
